I was on Tumblr and there was a screen shot of a Twitter post with one woman bragging about how she had a "sugar daddy" who moved her to LA and paid her rent for 3-4 months, all while she was young (like 20-21). One of the replies was from a young woman who had moved into her own place at around the same age once she acquired a stable salary from her RN job. The response to the second, career-oriented woman was to call her a "pick me" and thirsty.
I wasn't aware that starting out a successful, well-paying career in the field of your choice was "pick me" status, when compared to prostituting
I've seen a few of the "softer" men on here refer to women that are proud of their career and early accomplishments in this way, but for the most part I've heard men use the term to describe women desperately pandering for male attention as "pick me(s)," as opposed to women who are doing good for themselves.
What gives?
