I dont agree with fining the coaches or suspending anyone but we had a mercy rule when i was a kid and it wasnt that bad.

The rule was if at the end of the 3rd quarter you had a 45 point lead the game would end. That rule is fair because if you getting stomped by 45 really do you want your kids out there getting smashed for another 10 minutes? Man we were really out there killing them other kids though. Our team ended up with 3 NFL players and 5 others that played D1 ball so it kinda wasnt fair.

In baseball the rule was that you could only score 7 runs an inning and if you were up by 8 going into the final inning you won. I hated that 7 run rule because we would reach 7 runs with 0 outs. Id get pissed if i was on deck and the guy hitting knocked in a run that ended the inning.

:russ:hilarious how nikkas take a isolated story and generalize it into a generational thing ....and last time i checked the mercy rule been around for decades, but the fact there trying to institute fines is ridiculous that's on the parents though not the kids........my uncles friend is a referee for youth sports and he told me first hand the mercy rule is mostly put in to reduce the potential of tension between the parents...he was telling me there are always two feds on hand to keep the peace especially

i got a little 9 yo cousin in youth football and trust me when i say this shyt is way more competitive and advanced then when i was growing.....its a sight to see brehs.....i could only imagine how crazy it is in florida from watching the 30 for 30 they had on it and all the clips they got on youtube........
I've been around football for basically my whole life and I've never heard of this. I'm from NJ. Where are you at that they've had this in place?

where they cross-over and clap boards
I remember playing youth basketball at 8-10 and there was a rule were if you were up by 20 you had to stay in the paint and if you blocked a shot or stole the ball it was a technical. Then when I moved up to 11-12 if you were up 25 you couldn't press or anything. My squad and I blew a lot of teams out during those years. I went like 3 years without losing a game, called ourselves the running rebels :wow:

They shouldn't even keep scores period.

That's hoe shyt, and goes against the realities of life. Believe it or not, the kids will always keep score. There are great life lessons to be learned from both winning & losing, no need to shield kids for this type of stuff. They are more resilient at that age anyway, you are not protecting them, only hurting their character in the future.

Like clockwork. One of the coaches for this school is a good friend of mine. He's been the offensive coordinator for 10 years. They've won 3 state titles since he's been there and now he's been dismissed.

It's amazing how the harassment/bullying dynamic exists today; there's literally no recourse for the accused, akin to a rape charge. All of the coaches have been suspended, leaving the team without any leadership. The kid could have come in with his father and discussed it directly with the coaches, but I'm sure the father doesn't have the balls to confront them. Instead, he goes to the administration and does damage the entire system, ruining their season. Most of the coaches are not going to return after this season is over. It's their personal decision after the way the administration has come down on them.

My middle school bball team would put the beats to other teams and coach usually went hard to the very last whistle regardless of the score. One time during a blowout he decided to ease up and let the assistant coach/lunch lady take over coaching, and he left the bench. One of our guys went to use the bathroom in the locker room and saw coach making love to the cat that used to sell tapes and t-shirts

:wtf:
