I vacationed in an area near Madagascar called Seychelles a couple of years back. Some locals still believe in things like mermaids.

I saw a big brown and green fish with several catfish like whiskers flowing around it's head. From a distance I can see why someone would assume it's a mermaid but what I saw was a big ass fish.

It was about 10 ft long brown and green and had a bunch of catfish like whiskers around it's head that flowed like hair and a face like a mudskipper or blobfish.

I'm not sure if this fish is known to science but I would have to attribute mermaid sightings to that thing.

I do think there are alot of creatures that are undiscovered/undocumented. I dont assume that because I have not seen it in a zoo or on camera it doesnt' exist.

I just take it as something not yet documented academically.
