Message to Black Americans: Stop shaming each other for living at home

When I start having my kids, I will let them stay with me til they ready to move out on their own. And even then, my door would always be open for them.

I would assume it had to do with young men having to enter the workforce and support themselves early due to their family being unable to

back in the days resources were plentiful, u could buy a house and raise 3 kids with full college funds on a McDonalds salary
it made sense leaving the nest as soon as possible
but them days are OVER, so things must naturally adjust to meet todays reality.

Cause it was legal adult age back in the 50s when a kid outta high school can get a job and a mortgage.

Nowadays, cost of living is outta control and the economy on the verge of collapsing due to landlords price gouging and making working class people homeless. Anyone with the "get outta here by 18" mindset didn't live past the 1970s and they lazy bum parents that want to be oldheads in the club status again.

How many times do we have to go over this....It's not by choice. For poor income people the state cuts of the benefits ( food stamps, Medicaid, etc...) after the kid turns 18 so the kids get pushed out as a result.
No one with means is kicking their kids out at 18

my old coworkers used to look at me all funny for living at home thinking i live rent free but im like... we all pay for the house i dont live rent free... and this was WAY before the pandemic i wonder how they feel now???

Getting out early teaches responsibility. Just like I think kids should have commission base jobs at one point in their life to increase their hustle.

That's because Asian kids live rent free at home after college and accumulate enough wealth to make massive down payment on houses 5 to 10 years later. That's how they get ahead.
I'm not sure that can be replicated in the black community the 'starter wealth' is not there.
