The US spend close to 200 BILLION dollars a year on illicit drugs.

2/3 of the weed smoked in the US came from Mexico

90% of the heroin comes from Mexicod

90% of the cocaine comes from or thru Mexico

Our Annual LEGAL trade with Mexico was $550 BILLION last year ($112 BILLION DEFICIT).

Total automotive exports for Mexico to US was appx $68 BILLION.

Meaning the Mexican economy depends on the drug trade even more than the auto industry.

That wouldn't be the same country forcing Mexico to escalate their war on drugs ?

I think this is important but don't you think there would just be a civil war if there wasn't a "drug war"? Isn't it already basically a civil war....

How did places like Colombia get their cartels under control(or at least co-exist with them) but Mexico can’t do the same?

Mexico has a direct border with their top market and its huge and not hard to get through. That market also just so happens to be the number one producer in weapons on the planet. Sprinkle some corruption and voila.
