Because visuals weren't as impressive back in those days, art style, writing and music were vital to pulling you into the world of the game. MGS crushed it on all 3.

Twin snakes doesn't count. Who the fukk remakes a game that is only 6 years old and they made the soundtrack sound like some shyt from the matrix and had snake doing backflips and street fighter combos in cutscenes

whenever people say they want a remake or hype up twin snakes it just reminds me that games still aren't really taken seriously yet. cause nikkas who love movies aren't asking for citizen kane or the godfather to be remade lol
