people only remember the good parts of the 80s, like the fat boys and the original walkman, and pizza hut being edible. people say they would go back if they could, but the second you step outta that time machine and everything smells like my grandmas house with no internet, EVERYONE would be begging to come back!

thats how i feel about the 90s! thats when i grew up so im biased. shyt they make for kids now is just pathetic.. and the incoming AI toys are gonna be WOAT. when i was coming up we shyt on Blues Clues as the worst television could get. i had no idea how much they'd dumb it down for the next 30 years!

to you the 90s might be a downgrade from the 80s, but at least we still had decent music, movies, cartoons, etc. i know 1993 is a controversial year with everything that happened to rap since, but at least the music was still good even if the messaging could be kind of bad. i thought gangsta rap started from guys telling stories about street shyt, but i guess eventually you had to be (or at least appear to be) the tough guy

but yeah it got bad towards the late 90s with the shiny suit/puff era but i dont think it got like bad bad until 9/11. country hasnt been the same. 9/11 felt like the end of that weird 90s optimism we kinda used to have. now shyt is just terrible

being threatened to be SENT to war. To have our heads blown off at 18. Based around white people selling drugs. So of course you and all us as kids were influenced.
Till crack came.

i hate how modern society has no respect for art. the way white people defanged jazz is insane. it went from music that used to scare the shyt out of white conservatives (they would say bullshyt like jazz has 'jungle rhythms') to music embraced by them (over time as it was neutered into elevator muzak) to try to shyt on hiphop as an anti-intellectual form of music when rap was never anti-intellectual until 93.

i dont need to say shyt to validate hiphop as valid art. miles davis knew that shyt was the future 40 years ago! if charles mingus lived i think he woulda liked hiphop. charlie parker, roy ayers, and so on. ill bet none of those critics woulda said shyt about white boys like dave brubeck! shyt they prolly didnt even LIKE jazz until they heard 'take five'

i played in punk bands until i was 29 and i lived through the destruction of that subculture. they kill anything with real rebellious spirit. thats why charlie parker never lived to see the 1960s but guys like chick corea get all the respect (yes bird is loved for his role in bebop but hes still depicted as a junkie) fukk that bullshyt



real musicians know jazz is the highest form of artistic expression. if youre not into theory it wont matter much but jazz rewrote the rules for music.. to basically say fukk the rules! jazz is a baby of ragtime, blues and classical influence. if anything, rap is jazz's redheaded stepchild lol.
