Edit: How did he get the 50k needed for the half a million bail? He hasn't worked since he was fired and his house was in foreclosure?

I wouldn't doubt the cops in that area put money up for him. Remember the police department pressed charges on him and would not take medical coverage from his wife because she was pregnant.
