Death doesn't excuse being called to account for how you lived your life
Timing is everything. And I would've prefered if people brought this up while the man was alive for him to address it. I'm not saying ignore it either but I don't think it should be a talking point 1 month within his death.

Yeah but if you don't have the balls to say it when they are breathing, you gotta keep quiet.

That is the most cowardly thing a man can do. It doesn't excuse what he did, but a dead man cannot defend himself. They're not calling him to account for anything. So to do it now just means you want to hear yourself talk.

Michael Smith has always been a cornball. You can tell he rehearsed that argument in his bathroom the night before. "He was a X, but not an Y. He was an A, but not a B. He was...."

It was brought up while he was alive and dude never even apologized for it. Homie just cuban b'd it.

Lots of great people who have done great things have done shyt that wasn't so good. I'd agree more if it was just a one time incident, but he's had issues with this damn near his whole life. I don't believe it defines him, but it was a constant thing with him.

Am I a “fakkit” for pointing out that George Washington was a slave owner?

It’s irrelevant, cause your voice or opinion won’t be heard and they’ll make sure of it. His face will still be on the side of that mountain, his statues will still be standing, and he will be revered as an iconic hero in history books. White folks wont let you denigrate their the people they look up to

The irony is that the clip from thread was really trying to make the same point that he can't be defined merely by his shortcomings, as the full story of his life tells a larger, more nuanced story, and making a thread trying to call people out on stuff like this is still attempting to frame his life around said shortcomings.
