Four Michigan high school students have been suspended for a week after posing for a picture with racial slurs written across their stomachs.

The image, captured at a weekend party, shows three white girls and a boy with n----r and “I heart n----rs” inked on their midriffs. One girl — who was also suspended — sported no racial slurs, but the words “I heart weed” were penned on her knee.

The Grosse Pointe South High School students’ photo was captioned “Like what even” with laughing emoji faces and of the emoji of a monkey covering its eyes.

The school became aware of the incident on Sunday afternoon, according to a Monday letter to parents.

"We had four students at a party downstairs (in a home)," Superintendent Gary Niehaus told theDetroit Free Press.

A group of Michigan students is in hot water after posting a picture to social media showing the four with racial slurs written in Sharpie on their stomachs.
"They went through the process of taking a picture, posting it online and once it went viral, there were exchanges back and forth between the students, resulting in two other students being disciplined for threatening comments."

"The threats were basically around the whole idea around snitches and why did you tell on these four?" he told WJBK-TV.

The superintendent also said that police had been notified and an investigation was underway. He did not specify what possible crimes were being investigated.

"I was really, really disgusted by it. I was not happy," Phelan Johnson, a Grosse Pointe student, told the Michigan TV station.

"I just think that the people who go to this school are getting a good education and that this isn't a result of stupidity, it's a result of racism."

A group of Grosse Pointe South High School students was suspended for a week after posting an offensive picture featuring a racial slur.
Senior Miracle Bailey told the Free Press that one of her friends confronted the girl who originally posted the image to Instagram and Snapchat, asking her to delete it.

"But she was resistant and didn't want to take it down because she thought it was a joke," Bailey said.

Bailey’s friend responded by sharing the picture and drawing attention to it.

"It blew up on Twitter and went on to be posted on Facebook," the senior said.

"My first thought when I saw it I was a bit shocked and surprised. I was driving with one of my friends and she showed it to me and I just didn't know there were people who felt this strongly or thought it would be a joke or something to joke about."

Superintendent Gary Niehaus said that the offensive pictures were taken at a weekend party.
Bailey, who is president of the school’s diversity club, said her group is planning events to improve racial sensitivity moving forward.

"There's not much we can do in such a little time frame this year but we're looking next year to have open discussion or panel.

“We're hoping to live in racial harmony and unity so this doesn't happen again. The entire Grosse Pointe community isn't racist. This is just one incident that occurred."

The students have since apologized, according to a tweet from the school’s newspaper.

“We realize that the consequences put in place do not fully address the underlying issue,” the school said in its letter to parents.

“We are committed to continuing the work necessary to create a safe environment for all students.”

Meh. Not surprised; Grosse Pointe is at 80% white and alot of the CACs don't hide how they feel towards blacks.
