Thats the environment, not his talent.

Streaming and a lack of rappers in the 2010s fukked that up. Thats why Drake and Cole were where they were. Remember, CD sales dropped so Sean and Wale had to chase hit songs. KRIT floundered. Wiz locked in with his core fanbase until he scored a few home runs, etc.

Young Kendrick used to get massive hate when he was too complex...now he found the perfect balance between complexity and simplicity, which is also a strong asset to have as a lyricist. That put him above Lupe to me.
