If you're in The Arcadium you're familiar with the 4K / FauxK resolution battle.
What's interesting at this point is how both Microsoft and Sony are spinning things.

Phil Spencer had the following to say about the PS4 Pro in comparison to the XBOX One X
“I look at [PS4] Pro as more of a competitor to [Xbox One] S than I do to Xbox One X,” claims Spencer. “This is a true 4K console. If you just look at the specs of what this box is, it's in a different league than any other console that's out there.” Xbox’s Phil Spencer: PS4 Pro is an Xbox One S competitor, not a true 4K console

Since then we've learned that Microsoft employs the same checkerboard rendering solution for their games as well. This isn't to say that native 4K is impossible on XB1X, but it's an interesting contrast from his narrative that XB1X is "true 4K" while PS4Pro is not.
On news.xbox.com Microsoft states that their definition of true 4K includes checkerboarding and dynamic resolution. (The same techniques PS4 Pro uses).

The difference here seems to be that Sony has separate branding icons for native 2160p resolution, checkerboard 4K, and upscaled resolutions.

Sony may be a bit more clear with their labels but the most important part remains to be seen; How many games will truly take advantage of the hardware.
Microsoft is clearly in a better position to deliver on their claims with the superior hardware found in the XB1X, but as both companies will admit, whether or not a game will fully take advantage of the console's power is entirely up to the developers.

:mjlol: isn't the Xbox One S the same exact fukking console as the OG XB1? Which makes it not even a competitor to the OG PS4, let alone the Pro. Also, could someone explain why it's so great that the XB1X has 1.8 TFLOPs of power more than the Pro given that the Pro will be 1 year old when the X releases and the X will be $100 more at launch?

Anybody with an ounce of a brain would've caught that bold faced lie immediately.
:gucci:So I don't have an ounce of brain now??? The balls on you. :stopitslime:
I don't know. I just ignored it when I heard it/skimmed over it the first time and didn't even bother thinking about it. :pachaha:I'm just now realizing how stupid it sounds outloud to compare the PS4pro to the XBS

Says the guy who still believes the PS4pro is an upgrade :laff:

It's now reached double digits the amount of titles that perform WORSE on the pro. Speak on that

PS4pro = Turbo Graphix-16

Every 1st party game on XB1X is 4k/60fps, how you love that :win:
The system hasn't even come out yet and nikkaz trying to cast opinions on incomplete games. Talk about trying too hard :laff:

The fact nikkaz trying to hate is admission of :umad:

One S is a teeny bit more powerful than the vanilla One. One S does HDR and also doubles as an UHD Blu Ray player, which not even the PS4 Pro has for whatever reason

That label may include other rendering techniques.

But Microsoft itself is not using any of them for their games. All first party games are Native 4K.

Sony using the term "dynamic 4K" is misleading in itself.

The term is a misnomer, and was made to purposely trick people who are not tech savy.

“We’re running at 4K 30FPS for Campaign/Horde and 4K 60FPS for Versus with adaptive scaling to ensure a rock-solid frame rate that fans expect from our head to head multiplayer,” Rayner said.

http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/06/12/e3-2017-gears-of-war-4-xbox-one-x-enhancements-detailed
Adaptive scaling doesn't mean the game won't run at 4K

Again they said any game that runs at 900p or 1080p will run at 4K on 1X

Gears runs at at least 900p majority of the time on X1. Its dynamic on X1, so they wouldn't go back in an change the entire rendering solution. So it will run at 4K the majority of the time on 1X. Probably won't dip at all.
