One of the reasons I have always preferred working for small businesses.

My boss now doesn't even know what I do. As long as the money is right he is literally nonexistent.

He asked me to list all my administrative tasks that take up most of my day.

:dahell:

I literally had to tell him my job is not admistrative. It's direct communications and crisis management.

He basically hit me with "Oh okay. Nevermind."

Not just Teams, any application that you use through your company. My company uses Okta for SSO, MFA and other things so when i connect to my VPN or login to something else, i get a message on my phone to prove i am the one connecting. It tells you the location of where the request is sent, so if you can see it your company can see it.

Yeah my company uses Okta too

My company already does this.. 3 days in the office 2 at home.

There are people that just swipe their badge then leave the office after like 20 minutes.

They are monitoring it more closely by checking if you are connected to the office WiFi or on VPN.

I go in at 8 and leave at lunch around 1-1:30 lol. Beat afternoon traffic :ahh:
So managers/supervisors/boss can’t just walk around and see people are gone? Is this some huge office where people are rarely seen unless you make it a point to go to their office?

Huge corporation.. thankfully new manager is in another state.

Manager when I first started the role was in this location, but I can reserve a seat anywhere away from where he sits lol.

The corporation I work for has hundreds of thousands of employees

Probably one of the worst things you can use especially In a Big Org. Make sure it's low tech and you didn't install anything. Try hard white boys are just looking to hem someone up using them. Because once it's found disciplinary action is all but guaranteed.
Yup it’s usb my job doesn’t do keystroke tracking

how would that work when I'm connected to the VPN. I'm always at work location ...

either way we as long as we WORK on the working days it doesnt matter where we work.
Technically, an organization should only allow employees to access their work portal through a employer provided vpn for safety I thought?

I feel like yall don't take into account that even if there are already ways to track employees, they may be costly or unpractical.

If the office is a huge flexible space, and managers and IT have work to do, they will be less inclined to spend the time and effort to track individual employees, as long as it isn't flagrant they're never at the office or underperforming.

This move by Teams makes it easier for them to track people, so they will do it more to reign in folks taking advantage of hybrid schedules.

They don't have to, I tend to think VPNs are the bare minimum, but zero trust application designers and sellers claim VPNs are a thing of the past.
(This will bite organizations in the ass)
So a great deal of forward leaning (idiotic) companies (including the DoD) are moving in this route
