Mid season observation brehs. We're approaching ASW and I wanted to chop it up and get the coli's thoughts on their biggest surprises and let downs. I'll start off.

Biggest Surprise is definitely New York Knicks. They stand 23-27 but I thought they'd be bottom dwellers along the lines of the 76ers. Porzingis has surprised and their roster seems to be developing an identity. I'm impressed and looking forward to the future.

Biggest Disappointment is unfortunately the Rockets. I went on record preseason and said that they'd be title contenders and Harden will be an MVP candidate. Clearly I was wrong as they sit 27-26. As a team that made it to the conference finals last year, this is abysmal.

Another shocking let down for me is the Pelicans as well.

Add on.

To me both answers are clear cut.

Biggest surprise are the Mavs. After the whole Deandre situation combined with both Wesley Matthews and Parsons coming back from bad injuries, and adding in everybody considering Deron Williams washed nobody had them being a solid ass team in good playoff position.

Biggest disappointment by far the Rockets with Pelicans trailing behind that. At least with Pelicans they have a bunch of injuries to explain their performance.

Houston is easily the most dissapointing team. Theres no other option.

The other night against the suns the starting lineuo pissed off bickerstaff so bad with their less their inspiring olay that 5 minutes into the game bickerstaff did a hockey lineup substituion. Took all the starters(ariza, beverley hill cop, brewer, howard and harden) out the game. It took harden a minute to realize and processed that he was coming out too. He walked up to bi kerstaff with the:dwillhuh:, and jb hit him with the:yeshrug:.tbis happened against the fukking phoenix suns. We got swept by the fukking nets

I miss Yao:mjcry:

Toronto: surprise (Portland has a good argument for being here as well)

Milwaukee: disappointment
I knew Toronto would continue to build off of last year but you got me with the Bucks. Was really expecting them to creep into the playoffs with that 7th or 8th seed and Greek freak with a most improved player award. They fell off.

His offensive game doesn't need to be talked about.

On D, he's pretty good. Not game changing or anything, but he's a really good 1 on 1 defender.
Are the Jimmy Butler comparisons accurate? Might start watching some heat games now.

Rockets are the most surprising to me cuz they went from a #2 seed to struggling to be a .500. Barely changed personnel too

Warriors are a surprise because I definitely did not expect them to come back even hungrier than before.

Pistons and Magic have been surprises as well. Haven't really kept up with who they've drafted or aquired in free agency but they'll hopefully be teams that will shake up the east in the next couple of years.

Most disappointing has to be... The Wizards

ehhhhhh

I don't think people should be looking at Jimmy Butler's progression as some kind of reliable comparison for anyone. The amount of improvement he made from his rookie year to his sophomore year isn't just something that happens normally. Winslow, and a lot of the Miami players for that matter, could do with a much better offensive system than Spoelstra is putting out this year.

Winslow can handle the ball a bit but uhh.... I'm not gonna gas that one

I've liked the recent changes they've made where they are focusing on getting Deng and Winslow more open looks through cuts and leaving them in the corners more often. Offense has looked better last few games. Key for them is cutting back on Wade isos. No matter what system they are put in if you can't shoot you can't shoot and Miami just badly lacks shooters.

Biggest surprise: Boston. I expected everyone to catch up to them and their style of play. But they are still cooking. Bradley is a semi star.

Biggest disappointment: Rockets. Who else?

The Milwaukee Bucks regressed. They'e probably going to miss the playoffs.

The New Orleans Pelicans are a disappointment.

Of course the Rockets
