It’s quite obvious really. At that age they realise their dreams are gone. Their youth is gone, probably didn’t go after their dreams and they’re not going to achieve those dreams. The idea of spending the rest of their lives being miserable till death is not fun. It’s more tempting to end it right now and be done with it

Young people might also be miserable but at least they have their youth which gives them hope.

Go after your dreams brehs. Your fears are nothing compared to the misery that awaits you if you don’t and you find yourself at 54yrs old working in some shyt job and knowing this is it. It’s not getting any better.

The dumbest and I mean dumbest thing you can do as a breh is push away friends and family. You not a island. Stop thinking about how everything needs to be a transaction. Money ain’t going nowhere. Playstation still gonna be there. Go to them invites every once in awhile. Put yourself out there. Tf you wanna go at this rough as life alone?

FACTS.

I told my husband to put himself first always. Men naturally fall in line and give up especially when they reach a certain age they just get tired and realize the juice ain’t worth the squeeze.

Even if you’re a husband and father put yourself first. Your family will appreciate you being ALIVE AND HAPPY versus miserable and/or DEAD.

Yep. My aunt told me to stay focused and pursue my path because the worst thing will be looking back at my life with regrets.

Go after your dreams, folks. Ramp it up now so none of us are old ppl sitting around saying “if only…” and “what if…”

I’m trying to be extremely satisfied with some amazing stories and lessons to pass down to the youth!

I remember I was chatting with a woman in her 60s and she was like “Oh, you’re young enough to still have hope. At my age you realize that whatever is happening, is just life and the way it is”. And she wasn’t depressed or anything, just very matter of fact about everything.

You talk to enough older black men you’ll learn a lot. Some felt like atms for their wives in the 90s. Some took a lot of abuse from white coworkers. Some didn’t follow their dreams. We don’t talk about this group of the black community.

We know the popular topic is many men are emotional, lazy, no sense of self, violent, defeatists attitude, etc.

But the black men, the unknown soldiers who go about their day without putting themselves first feel empty when it’s all said and done. Or too injured or broke to enjoy their lives once they hit 50s and 60s.
