Midwestern or Northerners ?

I have a professor from Michigan who always referring to himself as a northerner. Dis nikka got a PhD too !! When I moved to chicago I would have people tell me you live in the north now.

Do any of yall from midwestern cities refer to yourself as a northerners?

Midwest culture is slower, much more passive aggressive and dare I say more cynical than true Northern/East coast culture, especially compared to folks in the south.

I’m from Michigan and consider myself both. If I’m talking about the south then it’s definitely more of a north vs south thing compared to them. If I’m talking about New York then we’re definitely more Midwest compared to them. Guess it depends on context, but I’m a midwestern person at the end of the day.
