Just saw an article by Fox News...smh, that a class in a Mississippi school had a lesson on Jay-Z and his successes as a rapper and entrepreneur. As far as I understand, one kid's parents are up in arms about it because they are conservative Christians and the content of Jay's lyrics brings up moral issues for them. The school doesn't see anything wrong with the lesson and told the parents as much. So of course, the parents took it to Fox News and they are running with it.
I dont /wouldnt have a problem with my child learning about Jay-Z as a successful, savvy, business man. However, I can see where the parents are coming from as far as having their child exposed to the content of his songs. They dont run that type of household and dont allow songs with explicit lyrics. So, I feel the school over stepped in giving the kids the lyrics to Big Pimpin. Lol, I just hate they had to take it to Fox News , of all places. The most bigoted, biased, non objective, objective we channel ever but the parents had the good sense to ask to remain anonymous.
Lol, so what do yall think? Bad taste on the schools behalf or are the parents making a big deal for nothing?

Forgot to answer your question. I don't know, I guess I'd feel the same if they were elementary school or middle school kids and they were reciting lyrics and shyt. But if it's just about the business side of his life and how he came up, I probably wouldn't have a problem.

If they were high school kids as well I probably wouldn't care as much. One of my teachers in high school had us study Pac cause she was a stan. She was sexy too, I should go back for a visit.

I agree. These kids are 6th graders, though. I also had an assignment in high school where we got to present a song that addressed social issues. I chose to present "Brenda's Gotta Baby." --Tupac It was awkward because I was in a class filled with ppl who listened to No Doubt and Billy Ray Cyrus. Lol
Let me know how your trip back to school goes.
