Don't know if this has been post yet but...

Missouri football players to boycott until president Tim Wolfe resigns

"More than 30 football players at the University of Missouri will not participate in any practices or games until Missouri System president Tim Wolfe resigns or is terminated. Several black team members announced their decision to strike on social media Saturday night and Missouri's Legion of Black Collegians posted a statement on behalf of the team with a picture of players unified in support of the boycott.

Wolfe's response to a series of racist incidents has been considered inadequate by many students who believe racism has poisoned the campus. A graduate student, Jonathan Butler, announced earlier in the week he was going on a hunger strike until Wolfe was removed. The most recent racist incident came Oct. 24 when a swastika was drawn with human feces on a college dorm's white wall."

"Wolfe issued a statement apologizing for his reaction at Missouri's homecoming parade when the ConcernedStudent1950 group approached his car. "My behavior seemed like I did not care. That was not my intention. I was caught off guard in the moment," he wrote. "I am asking us to move forward in addressing the racism that exists at our university — and it does exist.""

:salute:

This is exactly what we need to do. Shout outs to these players. The only way we'll ever get justice in this country is to flex what little influence we have, and sports is where most of that influence lies. You hit cacs in their wallet and that's when they finally start to change their tune. Sadly most blacks with power end up as c00ns but that thankfully these young brothers still have some pride left.

Would've been a literal game changer.........grossmissedopportunityistically speaking, of course. :coffee:
Yup but who are we kidding here...

What did we really expect from a coach/GM and leader of the team who's wife looks like this

Has his garbage son on the team who plays like this

Sterling was ousted in swift fashion. I don't get the complaint here.

It took adam silver(a Jew) and other white/jewish owners to make that decision after the fact and fear of losing money and the potential of other exposals of racist owners...

You can be cool with that...

Of course it took the league to oust him.

The point of a walk-out would have been to force the league to oust him. It was not needed, because Silver made it clear early on that that was what he was going to do.

I like the precedent it sets based on the fact these players are now realizing they hold a lot of clout. Let them try to kick all of them out of school and have them do without that football money for several years or longer trying to recruit a watchable team :lolbron:.

However, on the other hand, I will say in this case to play devil's advocate a bit the only incidents of concern that I've read about the build up to this is the feces swastika and a guy yelling ****** out a passing car.

Outside of maybe the dean not coming out and just saying this is inappropriate behavior for students, there isn't much you can do if you don't know who is behind these incidents. You just have to hope you catch them in the act next time. Not sure the Dean leaving the school is going to fix that issue.

Someone correct me if I'm not seeing more sides of this story in my summary above.

The point of the walkout would have been about principle and dignity. The way black fans are treated versus other fans.

This was resolved because they would not have let Magic Johnson , Kareem Abdul jabbar proceed with the bid for ownership...

You are not even thinking about black ownership ....you just like to be entertained.

I'm also assuming that you black.

Now you're bringing up other issues.

The burden of black ownership and treatment of black fans (not even sure what that's referring to) does not fall on the shoulders of players for the Los Angeles Clippers.

The players for the Los Angeles Clippers had a spotlight on their back because the owner of the Clippers made some racist remarks. They wanted him ousted, he got ousted in record fashion.

If Mizzou's President had been ousted Thursday or if their board had indicated they'd be setting forth on that path, this walk out doesn't happen.

If the owners have perception of blacks that is negative , then it applies to blacks with money and without money, it applies to the fans and the players...if the black players dont want accept that as truth, thats on them, but it is all related.

The decision to oust sterling came after the round of playoffs it was exposed in, so the clipper players had an opportunity display integrity by not playing until it was handled, if that meant forfeiting so be it. A statement would have been made and doors would have opened up...

You are correct on Mizzou issue because its a college, ownership is not being threatened, it could never be...
