2024 ACS Black population by city...
Total Black Population United States 49,204,745 South 27,446,877 Midwest 8,498,602 Northeast 8,164,103 West 5,095,163 New York 2,186,742 Chicago 779,093 Philadelphia 663,201 Houston 589,496 Detroit 492,806 Los Angeles 392,938 Memphis 391,660 Baltimore 349,573 Charlotte 335,964 Jacksonville...www.thecoli.com
But since you might be or maybe just didn't see it, I'll help you out, total black population:
•Oakland 97,322, which is 21.9% of Oakland's population
•Sacramento 95,124, which is 17.8% of Sacramento's population
Oakland only has ~2200 more black people than Sac, Oakland's black population is only 2.3% higher
Now you have a fair point with monoracial black population:
•Oakland 81,237, which is 18.3% of Oakland's population
•Sacramento 66,383, which is 12.4% of Sacramento's population
So Oakland's black only population is 22.4% higher.
We have alot of mixed blacks in Sacramento and alot of mixed people in general, one of the reasons some consider Sac the most diverse big city in the country. But objectively it's a more livable place for Black Californians than Oakland is, and has grown in its black centric amenities, these are why its a better place for black people than Oakland.
Just go back to Oakland![]()
KC a full 1.5 percentage points below national average, though. Comparatively, ain't a ton of mixing going on in KC
Omaha (30.4% of they blacks are mixed) is the Midwest city that people say Ohio is or that you said KC ishell Madison, Grand Rapids, St Paul, and Indy round out the Midwest cities above national averages, they not crazy with it in Missouri like people assume
Nah not half, I got a ton of California family6 of my siblings are still in California but only one of those 6 has a nonblack mother (two if you count my sister whose mom is Filipina/black, but given our dad is black and her mom is mixed black too, I don't count my sister in the biracial blacks group).
Out of 13 siblings, 11 of us born in California, only two of em have a nonblack mother. So your estimation of "half", nah, can't agree!
The Fact the South this is so called black love this black love that, has this large amount of mix of people

For one we are the only major California city growing in black population. For people who want to leave the coast but stay in California, it offers a large and growing black community, and also is a bargain from the cost of living along the coast.I've been to every major city in California EXCEPT Sacramento.
What's attractive there for black ppl?
