What' your order compression first or eq?

For sure, The listening feature is indispensable....my favorite software eq

My go-to compressor is Waves SSL Compressor. I use it on instruments mostly but sometimes I put it on the Master Bus. I usually go Compressor first then EQ.

Fav. EQ is a Multibland Splitter I made in Ableton to isolate Highs, Mids and Lows and UAD Maag EQ4

i think there's situations that call for one in front of the other, but if i think about it, generally, i'm usually putting compression in first.

and i'm answering that in particular because i think it's actually a really interesting and important question if we're talking about mixing. and i would love to hear other opinions about this...the why's, the how's, etc...
