Part of why he wasn't as effective as a Wizard(aside from the fact he was older) - once he severed that tendon in 99, he couldn't palm the basketball anymore after the surgery

I think he still palmed it, but the index finger definitely limited the effectiveness of it.
I read a book on the Wizard years - I think he just couldn't do it as reliably because the finger was so fukked up after years and years of abuse; the surgery also removed his range of motion on the finger
I’d be palming more than just basketballs if my hands were that big.
