Putting a team in Montreal would be so stupid that it's not even funny.

Charlotte doesnt care about anything but Nascar, College Basketball and the Panthers when they're in the playoffs

Portland cares more about Soccer as a Summer sport

San Antonio sounds like a great option though

GTFO with that Mexico BS though :mjlol:

I have a hard time believing baseball would work in San Antonio. It's to small of a market.

I could have sworn the population of san antonio is over 1M.

that being said, not sure where they are gonna expand baseball. outside of latin america, it's not a global sport like that. and they certainly aren't really attracting new viewers and are very reliant on their :old: :bryan: fanbase and nostalgia.

the city population is over a million but the media market is different. That and MSA is what's more important. SA is the 8th largest city but the 33rd largest media market and 25th largest metro.

I am biased towards Montreal but think they would do better a second time around. If some of the cities on this list would get locked into an ugly political fight to publicly fund the stadiums - Montreal - if they could privately fund the stadium, they would have a major leg up on the competition. The funds required for these stadiums is crazy. So it comes down to who can actually raise the money and in an ideal world, keep the general public (taxpayers) completely out of the process or at least only involve them in a minor way.

Montreal cares about Hockey and nothing else. Just because it's a major metropolitan city doesnt mean it would make for a good sports market
