Tip's influence can't be understated. He made Mobb Deep sound more beautiful. I think Big Mel was the cat that said Mobb Deep on Infamous were like a bizarro Tribe Called Quest.

Hell on Earth is dope as fukk and a classic, but it's bleak the whole way through. Infamous had rays of light here and there with Up North Trip, Drink Away the Pain and Just Step.

dope. Tip produced my favorite song on the Infamous

it's weird. People always talk about how Mobb and Nas were part of the transition from conscious jazz rap to hardcore rap in the 90s NYC hip hop scene. Yet the biggest NYC jazz rapper at the time was heavily involved in their albums and early careers

For 'Drink away the pain' Q-Tip should have penned a verse about how difficult it is to abstain from alcohol as a Muslim. His random verse about the clothes labels all pulling a heist was dope in its own right but didn't fit in at all with the theme of the song.

I'm a huge fan of Tip and this album by the way.
