Still, the proper way to have handled the matter would have been to have a private discussion with the teen (see video above), set down firm boundaries and guidelines on what is appropriate -- and inappropriate -- to view in the household, especially considering that there is a very young family member in the house as well. Trying to embarrass and shame the teen and document the daughter's "exposure" to porn, something a 2-year-old will not cognitively process as wrong, immoral, or inappropriate (and likely forget within a few minutes or hours) if the moment is not belabored and reinforced with drama and made memorable, only begets resentment and will likely prove counterproductive. Calling 911 and bringing in the police was an over-reaction that could potentially scar a sensitive person for life or simply present the parent as an authority figure without credibility. Insisting that a report be filed when the officer would not make an arrest was a bit heavy-handed and only accentuated an ineffectual attempt at trying to discipline natural curiosity and sexual exploration, normal behaviors by most standards.

In short, parenting is a difficult process. Making reactionary and ridiculous decisions that do nothing to solve behavioral issues in children and teens only serve to exacerbate the problems, not provide meaningful or helpful answers.

I'm sure there are some but most didn't.

I always compare the behaviors of black people who grew up in the Caribbean to those that grew up here. Those that grow up in the islands and used to get disciplined properly behave different than those who grew up here to Caribbean parents who could not do the same as parents in the islands for fear that they would be prosecuted for child abuse. The ones that wind up in jail are overwhelmingly U.S side raised and its not even close. Ask most people from the islands.

And im not saying we are better. But people that grow up here grow up in an environment that provides too much freedom IMO. Then they act up and take such freedom for granted and they have no fear of jail and end up in it.

Like I've said before I'll fukkin move back to the island to raise my kids if that's what it takes to save them cause beatings WILL take place in my home
