Absolutely. I said earlier in the thread that I've met the worst and best people in my life through the military. And to go further, the military would not be what it is without the combination.

Hood is special because the bad people are so good at being bad, that the good people have to do bad things too. People will turn away from the obvious right thing to do constantly at Hood.

I feel like someone gets ran over in garrison every 2 weeks. Maybe even more frequently.

My first Duty station, my roomate gets busted huffing Glade . Fast forward a couple months later, he finally got discharged for stealing blood samples from the Lab and giving them to his "wiccan" girlfriend.

Drug use is rampant in the military. Stimulants especially. At my last Duty Station before I retired, an LCDR popped positive for Adderall. Her prescription was over 5 years ol. Her reason? "I asked the Dr and he said it was fine". She got a verbal reprimand, that is all. Meanwhile, an enlisted comes up positive on a drug screening? See you later...

Deployed overseas. One of the pilots in our squadron pops off a couple rounds in the fukking cleaning barrel. The cleaning barrell is there for you to make sure you are not walking around with one in the chamber. Guess what happened to him? Not a damn thing. Do some shyt like that being enlisted and overseas?

CSM on the Stennis back in 2010 was busted running a prostitution ring on the boat. That got swept under the rug more or less.

Edit: I was an Aircrewman while in the Navy. It's a long story but my then wife ends up moving and taking my kids with her while I'm deployed. Cue to the obvious, divorce. This was the point I realized the military could give two fukks about its people. I was in a bad place after that. Got pulled into an office by a Chief and some E6 . Basically was told to suck it up, and start "doing my job" again.

I end up going to the Chaplain's office to discuss what had happened, and it was just a repeat of the same advice I got earlier.

So I've noticed many people join the armed forces (4-6 year contract) THEN go to college (4 more years). So looks like it would be 8-10 years after it's all said and done. Isn't it smarter to do reserves/national guard AND go to school? (4 years total)

The military seems like a toxic environment. Seems prudent to limit your exposure to such an environment in the form of a part-time job (reserves/national guard) while reaping the benefits (i.e.: VA loan, tuition assistance)

I did that since CID was involved you can't go to IG its a loop hole they have. IG doesn't deal with criminal investigations even if they are obviously not criminal. and you have all of the regulatory guidance showing it wasn't legit.

we never do that to JTACS and ALOs lol...That kind of defeats their usefulness now. I will place them on an OP with some artilleryman very fast. I love JTACs they have saved my ass many times.
