Same thing I thought of when I took a look at the home crowds of all the playoff teams this year so far (wildcard round and ALDS)

Toronto, Philadelphia, Seattle, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Chicago (Cubs)….even NY(Yankees) and Detroit, I thought wow these MLB fanbases seem to be predominantly White, where are the Black folks, Asians, Hispanics among them, etc

I know playoff tickets are expensive anyway and many black folks dont care about baseball like that to pay these prices…

Funny to see that baseball is not a Lily white sport on the field at all but it is a Lily white sport in the stands lol


LA (Dodgers) seem to be the only exception, I saw a lot of Mexican and Asian faces in Chavez Ravine. Not as many Black folks though.

They had Jimmy Rollins, Ryan Howard, Carlos Ruiz, Ranger Suarez, Mikael Franco, Odubel Herrera, milt Thompson, Mariano duncan, Ricky Jordan, Charlie Hayes, Ruben Amaro, Gary Maddox, Joe Morgan, Kim batiste, Bake McBride, Richard « dikk » Allen… the Phillies historically always had majority white teams but they had some Black and Latin players in their starting lineups.

I don't wanna sound like a Coli militant, but I think the demographics of our current team (majority white) and the recent playoff success have made the Phillies more popular.
Were those same people talking about the team when we had Odubel Herrera and Maikel Franco as our best players 7-8 year ago?
