FF14 is free to play? I thought that is a subscription service like WOW.

It has its own subscription service, but microsoft had a weird thing where regardless of whether somethign was F2P or had its own service, you still had to have gamepass. For some reason they are bringing it back for this

It’s just Xbox live. You’ve always had to have Xbox live for online gaming features. Pretty much everyone who owns an xbox already has Xbox live.

It was regular Xbox live gold.

This was a big reason why PS4 maintained such a huge lead in Fortnite over PC and Xbox combined.

Phil supposedly removed this policy back in 2020 or 2021 so it's interesting how it's suddenly back.
