More dramatic regression than Kaepernick?

This dude starts off setting QB rushing records in the postseason, is at one point a Michael Crabtree drop away from a Super Bowl title, to a bottom-5 QB in the span of 3 years.

What other players can you think of that regressed in such ridiculous fashion...besides RG3 that is?

Idk if he really ever regressed. Just that the 49ers had an amazing supporting cast around him back then, and now that the support has dwindled and the opposition has a lot of tape on him, he hasn't progressed enough to take the next step forward.

Like I said in previous threads I started. Blame high school and college teams running that bullshyt spread/read option. You can get away with doing dumb shyt in college and put up stats but in the NFL, players go to work like a regular job. They practice and are the best of the best. Sooner or later you gonna have to adapt. Most read option QB's can't.

Because you said read option/running QB fad and youngins. Both run a ton of zone read in their respective offenses, are young, and are stereotyped as QB's who can't read defenses.

I remember cats talking bout Kap was better then Cam a few years ago. It was just Kap had a better overall team around him, great Defense, good O-line, Frank Gore, good Wrs, great TE, and a coach that understood his limits. Cam was the team, now you see Kap and 9ers struggling.

He can easily be released. It was really only a two-year deal.

I'm not sure if I'd say he's regressed. He is what he is. He's a great athlete. He makes a lot of incredible plays. But he also makes a ton of mistakes, backbreaking mistakes.

Cam has a quicker release, better pocket presence, more accurate (besides the occasional high passes)
