Spotify has 151m active users. 71m paid subscribers.

Apple Music has 37m users. 4x less.

Weeknd premiered TWO music videos from the project on Spotify. Weeknd linked the new album on all his social channels to Spotify, not Apple.

Apple had almost double the amount of streams on the lead single. 6m, to 3.5m.

Apple Music had a better Weeknd than Spotify

Weird to y’all or just me?

After having apple for a while I see how they pump these numbers so high.

They push a handful of small playlists with different and supposed different content but whatever major artist is out at the time and whicher artist is newly signed to a major will have their song(s) appear on all of them. They are insane with this. Sometimes it feels like 5-6 of their promoted playlists are all the same.

They're really gaming their user base to listen to the same shyt over and over again. They use the ambiguity of a lot of current hip-hop and r&b to get those songs jnto as many lists as possible.

Any given urban contempary song will be in a rap playlist, the it's lit party mix, the a-list rap list, the future hits playlist, and the pop hits playlist. And then also in whatever curated playlist they can fit into. And these playlists are all reasonably short which leads to more plays for anyone just on a drive or tryna have shyt on in the background.

Their radio is trash, too. So it's better to use a playlist than it is to start a station. That feels intentional as well.

I heard a bunch of GOOD Music's new signee Valee on a drive to Tampa a few weeks ago and I've not seen or heard anyone checking for his music
