So we got this street fighter movie thread poppin' talking about the movie and it's turned into an appreciation for the comedic sensibility of it but now I think we need a thread dedicated to, in my arrogant opinion, the best video game adaptation put to screen: Mortal Kombat. Not that trash ass sequel from 97 but the first from 95. Seeing this on opening night around the way is one of those things I will never forget. My homie's dad drove us, we sat in the back of his pickup truck, being silly ass 9 year olds and the theater was packed when we got there. A bunch of people in the crowd clapping and yelling like we were seeing real fights..young dudes, old dudes, parents wondering what in the hell did they drag their kids to..Nikkas losing their shyt when Scorpion and Sub-Zero popped out to squad up for Shang Tsung..It's one of several movies I can watch now and regardless of my nostalgic experience seeing it on the first day, I think it's a good flick. If you're watching it with fresh eyes now you may balk at the 95 CGI but the shyt is done well. It's a supernatural Enter the Dragon, what more could you ask for?
