Gervonta Davis-Mario Barrios: Showtime Pay-Per-View Price Set At $69.99 For Card

The next Showtime Pay-Per-View event Gervonta Davis will headline is slightly cheaper than his previous appearance on that platform.

BoxingScene.com has confirmed that the price for the four-fight show featuring Davis and Mario Barrios in the 12-round main event June 26 has been set at $69.99. The last pay-per-view show Davis headlined cost $74.99.

Baltimore’s Davis viciously knocked out four-weight world champion Leo Santa Cruz with a left uppercut in the sixth round of that main event October 31 at Alamodome in San Antonio. That fight marked Davis’ debut as the featured attraction of a pay-per-view event.

Showtime’s most recent pay-per-view telecast cost $49.99, but the main event, Floyd Mayweather-Logan Paul, was an eight-round exhibition Sunday night between a retired, 44-year-old legend and a completely inexperienced opponent much more known for his social media influence than his boxing ability.

The 26-year-old Davis (24-0, 23 KOs) will move up two weight classes when he battles Barrios two weeks from Saturday night at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

Davis defeated Santa Cruz (37-2-1, 19 KOs) to regain the WBA “super” 130-pound championship. He’ll box Barrios (26-0, 17 KOs) for his opponent’s WBA world 140-pound crown.

The left-handed Davis technically can become a three-division champion by beating Barrios, but Scotland’s Josh Taylor is recognized as the WBA’s true champion in the 140-pound division. Taylor (18-0, 13 KOs) out-pointed previously unbeaten Jose Ramirez (26-1, 17 KOs) by unanimous decision May 22 in Las Vegas to become boxing’s undisputed junior welterweight champion.

The Davis-Barrios show will include an intriguing 12-round co-feature between junior middleweight contenders Erickson Lubin and Jeison Rosario.

The Dominican Republic’s Rosario (20-2-1, 14 KOs) will fight for the first time since Jermell Charlo (34-1, 18 KOs) stopped him in the eighth round of their 154-pound title unification fight September 26 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. Lubin (23-1, 16 KOs), of Orlando, Florida, beat Terrell Gausha (22-2-1, 11 KOs) by unanimous decision in Lubin’s most recent bout, a 12-rounder September 19 at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The two other pay-per-view fights that night will feature former 154-pound champion Julian Williams and former 140-pound champ Batyr Akhmedov.

Philadelphia’s Williams (27-2-1, 16 KOs, 1 NC) is scheduled to box Albuquerque’s Brian Mendoza (19-1, 13 KOs) in a 10-rounder. Williams will fight for the first time since Rosario upset him by fifth-round technical knockout in January 2020 in Philadelphia.

Uzbekistan’s Akhmedov (8-1, 7 KOs) is set to square off against Argenis Mendez (25-6-3, 12 KOs, 1 NC), of Yonkers, New York, in a 12-round WBA super lightweight elimination match. Barrios beat Akhmedov by unanimous decision to win his title in September 2019 at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Mexican that won't duck?
I'm sure Tank and his team tried so hard to get a fight with Valdez or Bercelt before he got beat by Valdez :mjlol:

This dude moving up and down in weightclasses based on where his handlers have other fighters. It's a joke, I don't see any career plan other than getting money from him until they can. Or collecting regular titles like they were infinity stones would be the plan?
Either dragging up fighters from 126 and 122 or making an unnecessary move to a division where he doesn't belong just cause they are lazy to deal with others.

Will the WBA fukk over Taylor too like they did Machado when he beat the legit champ Corrales at 130? :unimpressed: They put that guy a regular and they wrote out Tank vs 126er Cuellar for the "Super".

Hasn't fought one single top 130ers since he beat Pedraza and he was in the division for years.

I know "but Farmer didn't take the fight..." well Farmer wasn't the only viable challenge for him from "out of house", far from it.
When Floyd was saying he about to put him with Loma, he complained Floyd wants to sabotage his career. Compare that to Haney's or Teo's mentality. Former got into a mandatory position only to find out Loma's going the franchise route, latter fought and beat him.

I liked this guy earlier, around the time he fought Pedraza and his fighting style is still entertaining imo but all that happened outside the ring plus his lackluster career made most of my hype go away.

Now this will be at least interesting from the size standpoint. I guess at the end of the day he has enough to beat Barrios at 140 but he gonna be at 140 like how Mikey Garcia is at 147. Capable of beating B level guys but no chance against the few top guys. He'd be better off at 130 or 135, dude ain't even big at 135, he just blows up between fights but his frame is small compared to your average 135er.
