I must say that it seems there is a huge focus of the multiplayer concept in gaming these days. Sure, with games such as COD and BF4 it surely makes sense. However, there was always something special about getting lost in a great and well written Single Player "Story Mode" that in many ways gave a different and almost climatic appreciation for a game. Completing a story mode was the gaming quintessence of finishing a good meal. One felt that they really got the true essence of what the game was meant to be about instead of small random chunks of glory in quick multiplayer sessions. Albeit, I am a fan of both... but I think a re-focus by designers on the story modes will help push the gaming world forward.

:wow:

gotta agree.

i never go into multi-player online mode until i have beaten the story mode.
even then, there are games that i don't bother going into online mode with ever.

a strong story mode is far and few between but when it happens it's beautiful....but take a game like Star Wars Battlefront 1&2, the online was fukking amazing.

SOHH ICEY N.O.
me personally think they should continue to push forward with blending single player and multiplayer together, like they doing in watch dogs, the division, what kinda pushing people away from single player is that it no competition, ai is stupid as fukk and easy to beat

Yes, as you think about the primary reasoning for gaming, it's to have an immersive experience. It seems that over the years the idea of creativity in gaming has been stifled. Of course the big money that MP gaming surely influences devs to 'build more like it' but the art of story telling is lost in the process.

I'm also a SP guy myself. Nothing beats the journey of going thru the game until the end. MP is cool and all but with SP you can go at your own pace so to speak. Nothing better than an fps. I know I got my preorders for bf and cod coming soon and I'm hitting up that story mode first. Only bad thing bout sp is I tend to either get too many games or lose track and not finish. case in point being GTA, the online mode done took over for now.

Same. Console multiplayer is whack. Never got into it, even for free on PS3 or PC.

hasn't been many single player games in the past few years that really captured my attention and grabbed me. a recent one I can think of that really had me :wow: and really immersed was Bioshock Infinite. That game is gorgeous on PC
