Don't rent a huge place, rent a small place, stack paper, and buy your own place in a year. That's my advice.

Decorate modestly, don't expect to be at that place more than a year or two, or I should say hope for the best prepare for the worst.

Make sure you are ready to move. If your parents are letting you live rent free you'd be smart to use that time to stack as much money as you can, so you and your lady can be living good. There will be a lot of stresses to moving in with your lady, you do want to add stress over money to the equation.
