You won't find $600 anywhere in the metro area.

Cheapest studios in the NYC, Jersey, Westchester area are gonna run you $900 minimum.
And let's say you work in the city...what's the Metrocard now? Like 120 a month? And I think they want to raise it 15% (despite the fact they're sitting on a 1.9 billion dollar surplus, but that's a rant for another day).

So let's say 150 a month for the Metro.
Plus $400-ish on food every month?
Another $100 for your cell phone?
You plan on having cable/internet? Another $100-ish.
You got a girl? Figure the money on that shyt, breh.

If you have all these questions, my guess is you should look into staying at home as long as possible, or finding a roommate.

You can stack money while you can, or you can move out and live paycheck-to-paycheck.

I dont think that's enough. when I got my own spot for the first time back in 2000, I was paying $590 for a 1BR in a decent neighborhood. but that was 14 years ago, and back then gas only cost $1.25 a gallon.

you live in NYC, and the cost of living is certainly higher than it is here in the chi. plus ya'll got them toll bridges that tax the shyt outta u. I can't imagine you can get anything decent out there for the price range you're looking at.

you better look into getting a roommate or 2. that'd be better than living in a shythole.

back then, I was making about $35K a year fresh outta college with no seeds of course.

i dont wanna liv in nyc. but im trynna keep an eye out for cities thats more affordable, but im not knowledgeable of that. thats the kinda info i wanted to get from this thread, plus people sharing they young experiences.

for me, what im curious about is how to make that transition. like how have some of yall done it. cake up, move to the town, and search for a job? or get a job and then move? and what is the process of that. it seem crazy to me, but i know people have done it before, i just dont know the exact details from it you feel me. having that info could def help out with my brainstorming right now.

i feel comfortable here, and felt like i could talk to some real people who might now what im talkin bout and we could kick game on that.

having my own lil spot whether studio/1br is definitely a goal of mines for the year of 2015. i just wanna start setting my self up for that you feel me.

but good looks for coming through and contributing to the discussion.
