The official Chaplain of the Coli
Background, I work as an attendance agent at a school. I called a parent this morning whose daughter has missed 3 days of school. Come to find out, he's moving to Texas (one of the most popular places Detroiters move for a job besides ATL). He used to take her to school everyday and now it's up to her mom. And it's obviously not working out. The father said he asked his daughter to move with him but she wanted to stay in the D. And he's gone next week.
Obviously, I don't know the man or his financial situation. So I ain't judging him. But if you had child, could you see yourself moving across country if means you can't phsyically be in your child's life on a regular basis? Has anybody faced this before? What did you do?

I think it would depend on the type of opportunity that is available like if the job is giving a substantial pay raise that I wouldn't be able obtain staying where I was living (ex 2x pay raise), the age of the child would also be a factor as well like I wouldn't want to be gone at the really early ages of life or during the transition from high school to being an adult, and also how much do I trust the mother to stay on top of her shyt which apparently this one doesn't . I would definitely do regular visits and stay in constant communication in a situation like this.
