sometimes I wonder if he didn't get on Roc Nation because he refuses to compromise and censor his name.

Still one of my favorite MCs of the last 10 years.

He was on Warner for a bit, and was using the name Mr Xquire. They threw out an EP featuring Gucci and some other weird choices. There was a real great article a few years ago about how Huzzah ruined his life (in his view) and how he wanted to rebrand. He became more scaled down and people lost interest (in part because he stopped releasing music consistently).

I'm glad he's back. Crazy how most of that late aughts NY rap resurgence wave completely faded away or fell off. Where's Maffew Ragazino? Despot still hasn't released his album. Roc Marci out here releasing half ass shyt not mastered/mixed. AG The Coroner tweets more than releases music. Bronson fell off but is making money (and brought his team with him, including Meyhem Lauren who released a dope album this year).

:russ: I think I heard Maffew on a Roc Marciano song.

I think labels was just testing the waters with the "old new york" sound and that far left shyt (like flatbush zombies) to see what stuck.

None of it did, and only the Independent "old" NY sound stuck around (Marci, KA, Griselda, etc) cause the sound already had a fanbase.
