I'm not a fan of her music and personality at all.. But Nicki not being on this list is kinda unfair and comes off a little chauvinistic.. A lot of names on the top 10 are doing sellout pop music.. Why pick on her just because she's doing it more successfully?
Don't even think it's chauvinism or anything...don't think it's that she's a woman as much as them completely buying in to the backlash narrative, and compeletly ignoring objective reality...just think it's a reflection of the list turning into more of "what's the most trendy, cool to like artists of last year" which is more in tune with kind of the rap blogger/twitter/message culture and less of a flat out "who were the most popping and relevant artists of last year" type thing...using the metrics that they use which account for shyt like hits, "business ventures", touring success and all that other stuff other than the music...it's really no logical reasoning they can come up with her completely being off the list that's consistent with their stated qualifications all while having the most successful rap album last year, signing multi-million deals with K-Mart and Pepsi, being sought after as a feature artists on singles from two of top 3 hottest acts on their list (meaning 2chainz and Ross came to HER for a buzz assist) and becoming one of the faces of American Idol all in 2012...if her pop material disqualified her, she would/should have never made the list previous years
