First off those two records wouldn't pushed as singles by either one of them. Second, two of the biggest and proven names of the last decade releasing those songs is different from an artist trying to break through and throwing out Why and One Mic, you know that. And even Cole or Kendrick releasing this would chart but it would be at the bottom.
Those are not hits today.
It seems like record labels had been trying to find the next Kendrick or Cole but none of these new guys can balance topics like they did so they gave up. It's either too boring, corny, or lazy. They also don't have much of a story so a connection with the audience is nonexistent.
Someone said it earlier, but that balance is gone.
A white Em clone from YouTube, a street dude, and a XXX or Juice WRLD copycat is all you're getting 9/10 today from the mainstream.
