Two people were killed and three others were injured in a shooting at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, during a high school hockey game on Monday, February 16, 2026. The suspect, believed to be involved in a targeted family dispute, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. ET during a game between Blackstone Valley Schools and Coventry Public Schools.

Pawtucket Police Chief Tina Goncalves stated that the shooting appears to have stemmed from a family conflict and that the suspect was one of the deceased. Three victims were hospitalized in critical condition, while the identities of the deceased and injured have not been released pending notification of next of kin.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Rhode Island State Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), are assisting in the investigation. The arena was evacuated, and roads around the scene were closed as emergency personnel and helicopters remained on site.
