people wanting to do hallucinogens like acid and shrooms weren't from hiphop in my opinion
I think they were normalized in american culture in previous generations and started being included in hip hop more recently because normal people were doing them more

It'll always be that way.
The smart ones won't let it ruin them.
However, much of what these rappers rap about is already going on in the real hoods .... example: future raps about lean and pills but that shyt really goes down in the hood every day (personally, I know percs and zans are big in philly but not sure about lean) --- The music does reinforce it and it just makes those who aren't in the hood or really around it want to try it.

A lot of nikkas I know regularly sip lean and pop pills and before Lil Wayne got hot I never saw anybody sipping lean and doing shyt like that around my area, now maybe it was always common in the south, but in the east coast? Now I could be wrong and out of touch of course but from what I personally observed nikkas was just cool with smoking weed and at the most doing ecstasy.. and even ecstacy wasnt as common as xans and shyt is now

I think the difference is, rap is so mainstream now that you can't shelter ur kids from the stuff they don't need to hear.
