Do you dudes think rappers making music for a long time, gives them some sort of trump card automatically when determining the goat, over other rappers?
Only longevity that should be considered is how long is your catalogue still good after you recorded it.
If you rapped 20 years, but your catalogue isn't as good,or hasn't aged as well as somebody who was around half that time, why would the rapper who was rapping a long time get the nod?
It's great your still a goodrapper, but what does the music sound like?
Kendrick makes one or two more even DECENT projects and I think he will be up there.
Section 80,GKMC still sound and feel great.
DAMN is still very enjoyable but too young to determine.

in rap it is since this was a new art form in general

I don't think its different in rap, since most consensus top rappers didn't have to rap 20 years to get that nod.
Many weren't even in the top 3 for more than 3-4 years.
Its a minority who try to use longevity to downplay others who achieved the same thing in less time.
Now obviously more music in the catalogue comes with longevity,so say catalogue.
Longevity in itself means nothing really when discussing greats.
Most were already cemented after a 5-10 year existence in hiphop.
