Just curious as to how you would respond to his argument

The Quran says it confirms what is left of the torahs and gospel meaning it has been edited and changed over time. The Quran places itself as the barometer of truth not the Torah and bible.

Ummm…not actually boss :sadcam:

The Qur’an repeatedly says the Torah and the Gospel were real, true, and given by God. Surah 5:43–47 says Jews must judge by the Torah and Christians must judge by the Gospel, and that anyone who does not judge by those books is wicked.

The Qur’an never claims the Torah or Gospel were corrupted before Muhammad. It only accuses some people of misinterpreting or hiding verses, not altering the text. Surah 6:34 and 10:64 say no one can change God’s words. If Scripture was corrupted, the Qur’an contradicts itself.

The phrase “confirm what is with you” means the Torah and Gospel that actually existed in the 7th century, not some lost originals. Muslim scholars agree the Qur’an is talking about texts people already had in their possession.

Soooo….If the book you claim is corrupted is the same book your own scripture calls unchangeable, authoritative, and required for judgment, that’s a HUUUUGE internal contradiction….

Imagine trying to apply logic to religious ideology.

Somehow that guy in the video never questioned the talking snake...or what must have been the incestuous nature of Adam and Eve's offspring....or like...all of the bullshyt in Leviticus...

To play advocate...

the main claim has to do with Moses

in the Old Testament (Torah) it says that Moses went up to Mt Sinai to receive the Torah from God and that he was "delayed" returning

so the "Elders of Israel" went to Aaron the High Priest and said to him "We do not know what happened to this Moses, who delivered us from Egypt, go, make us Elohim who shall go out before us"

which Aaron then makes the golden calf and the congregation then starts worshipping it...

according to the Quran it is reported that the "Rod of Aaron" belongs to the Muslims...which to me has to do with this passage. So basically its saying that after Moses the children of Israel created "creators/gods" in his place because they didnt know what happened to him

the allegory is that they introduced other works to the collection of scrolls and worshipped them. So Muslims could always make the claim that they (the children of Israel) are plotting on Moses after that point and its fair game to judge them
A depiction from al-Tha'labi's (d. 1035, AH 427) Stories of the Prophets depicts Harun (Aaron) leaning on his rod, while his brother Musa's (Moses) staff miraculously turned into a snake-dragon to defeat Pharaoh's magicians.

The Quran is telling them to judge by the bible and Torah because they were engaging in practices going against their very scripture they claim to believe in, it is calling out their hypocrisy. The Quran is specially protected from corruption and alteration which is part of its miracle, numerous scriptures in the past had been lost or altered.

Surah Al-Hijr 15:9

Indeed, it is We who sent down the Reminder
(Qur’an), and indeed We will guard it.

Surah Al-Mā’idah 5:13

They altered the words from their places and forgot a portion of what they were reminded of.

Surah An-Nisā’ 4:46

Among the Jews are those who distort words from their proper places

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:75

A group of them used to hear the words of Allah then distort it after they understood it, while they knew.

Surah Al-‘Imrān 3:78

Among them is a group who twist their tongues with the Book so you think it is from the Book, but it is not from the Book

Surah Al-Mā’idah 5:48

We revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming what is true of what remained of the Scripture before it and as a criterion over it.

The Quran and basis for it is that it's the only book not changed unlike the Torah and Bible.

The books were altered by those with power.
