Needless to say he was shocked when a message from me appeared in his personal Facebook inbox. I asked him to go on the record about his rabble-rousing. He wanted to know how I was able to find him. I told him: IP trackers; Disqus comment-history; email addresses; old Myspace pages; high school senior class projects; Google searches…you know, some of the investigative tactics I was taught to employ in J-School. After getting over his initial trauma (as well as apologizing for having fun on my post), Jamericancruzian agreed to do the interview – on the condition that I would not give away his real name or any other personal identifiers (which is, contrary to his claims of deleting his comments and profile pic, “out of respect to the writer”). I told him that was fair just as long as he answers honestly.

He also told me that he was homeless and living in a shelter. I asked him if he was homeless, where was he getting WiFi from to troll people online and he said from his mom’s house, which he visits from time to time. I asked him more about the relationship with his mother and he responded, “Uhhh, thats too personal. I thought you were going to ask me questions about trolling?”

Jamericancruzian admits to taking advantage of sensitive topics however asserts that he does not believe most things he writes in comment sections. Instead he equates what he does to babbling and cites a likely source for most of his anti-black women sentiments:

“Tommy Sotomayor. I watch his videos then troll black women. I watch Farrakhan videos then troll white people. If you look through my fb activity you will see that I call white ppl white devil and etc,” he writes.

Although he says he does not believe everything Farrakhan and Sotomayor says, he particularly admires Sotomayor, whom he views as a master troll. “He doesn’t mean everything he says. I can tell. He’s a troll and he makes money off of it.” -
