2008 Nissan Maxima with 83,750 miles on it. I was driving yesterday and it pretty much died on me. Is that usually covered under warranty? Just paid that bytch off in February too :smh:

My timing belt broke & bent half the valves so I had to replace them... $600 but it was an older car. I also think a Piston or 2 were replaced as well.

If no valves bent it's as little as you buying another chain & just having someone put it on & re-time the engine or whatever they call it. But if any valves bent or pistons damaged it could be anywhere from $500 to $1,500...

I have an 08 with around 46k miles and every time I go to get the oil changed they try to get me to trade it in...
Oh hell yeah

They gonna try and profit off that bish like crazy

85k for a 2008 is still pretty good though

That's less than the expected 15k miles per year

Timing chain is supposed to last the life of the car(or 200k miles). But of course anything can happen. Unless you got an extended warranty you coming out of pocket. Cost to repair depends on whether or not the engine is "interference" or "non-interference". Interference engine can cause all kinds of problems when the timing belt or chain breaks. shyt literally runs together internally, bending rods, breaking pistons etc. If it's a non-interference engine then you're okay. Put a new belt or chain on, set the timing, and your good to go. You could be looking at repair costs from $800-$2500 depending on the motor.

Most of the time that means that engine is done.

I just dropped a jdm engine in my friends subaru wrx cause the timing jumped.
