I understand what you mean but I think the issue is deeper than that. African American's are an URM in medicine so the odds of seeing a physician that looks like you is slim, and most minorities feel more comfortable being treated by someone who looks like them. Many feel white doctors don't treat them with the same amount of care and precision, whether or not that's true is entirely speculation and dependent on
that particular patients interaction with
that particular physician. One could even cite past historical events pertaining to healthcare involving AAs. I hate that it exist, but there's an understandable level of distrust.
