Under 1k for 4K. :patrice: The only thing I'd get at that price range is a Sony 40 inch (it's the only tv in that price range with 4 hdmi 2 outputs and 120hz). But beware, Sony has sound lag, and you're not gonna get the amazing colors you'd expect from a 4K tv. Really, your budget should be $1500 minimum for an adequate 4K. Like a Samsung with a 10 bit monitor, and 4 HDMI 2 outputs.

Ok, well I tested out a lot of 4K tvs. The Samsungs with the 10-bit panel are the best in my opinion. Sony has triluminous, but the samsungs look just as good. Sony has sound lag (common problem), Vizio only uses 1 hdmi 2.0 output, sharps are shyt and have real bad sound lag, lg cost too much and they don't review as well. I'd get a Samsung 10-bit panel breh. Mine was $1600 out the door with 4 HDMI 2.0 inputs, 10-bit panel, and minimal sound lag.

Or you could take it to a repair shop. As long as the screen isn't cracked replacing a component is cheaper than buying a new TV.

but also if im buying a new tv I may as well future proof myself

and there are 4k tv shows n movies
Samsung JS9000 Review (UN48JS9000, UN55JS9000, UN65JS9000)
That's the cheapest "future proof" TV on the market. It's the cheapest TV that comes with a full one connect box. The one connect is the guts of the TV. In this case it's not packaged with the screen itself but instead in a separate box. That means that when the standards change on 4K streaming or whatever you can go out and buy a new one connect box and basically have a TV that's runs whatever the current year's standards and smart TV OS is.

If you're only willing to spend $1000 you're gonna end up with a low end 4K TV that's 60Hz instead of 120Hz. The mid-tier 4K TVs start out at about $1500.
