Long version:

My brother and his wife have two kids, been married for about 10 years. About 3 years ago he decided he wasn't in love with her anymore and wanted to split. They worked on it for 3 years. He was kind of talking to some girl at the beginning of it that threw his heart into a tizzy and thats sort of how this whole thing started. But he says he never did anything with her and they are not dating.

He's been living by himself now for about a year and a few months ago he started getting all the paperwork from his wife's lawyers.

* Him and his wife have a good relationship now, my brother gets the kids 3 nights a week, handing them off and such is seamless and everything is working out fine.

Now here's the kicker::: My brother is fukking broke and his wife and her family are rich. So she went and got fukking Johnny Cochrane and they are trying to "OUT-LAWYER" my brother because they know he can't afford one.

They are putting all this tricky shyt in the writing, they are making demands, they are threatening that they will start to seek that MY BROTHER PAY HIS WIFE'S LAWYERS FEES when my brother makes 1/4th the money that she does. On the paperwork they said that he makes $45K a year and that isn't even true, he is a PHD student. Their response: "Well you are not working a job at your potential with your education, we can hire a professional that can determine what you SHOULD be making."

What the fukk?

All he's asking for is:
1.) To continue getting the kids 3 days a week and one week a month get them for a 4th day.
2.) That in writing, he wants it to say that its 50/50 custody. Right now it says "The wife grants the husband when he gets the kids."

Both of those were denied in the "mediation" hearing they had today.

NOT TO MENTION::: His wife's father owns a pretty successful business, his wife now owns 15% of that business. She acquired that when they were married. So my brother could be an a$$hole and go after the business. BUT HE'S NOT!!


This sucks. I feel terrible for him.

He literally cannot afford an attorney. He's gotten conservative quotes for 7.5 to $10,000 and he cannot pay that. At all.
