NIT it is. :manny:

A lot of positives for next year tho. Im convinced Len is gone, but that may actually free up the offense to play quicker. Dez gonna be the number one guy too next year, even if Len is there, and played like it down the stretch. Faust stepped up too the last few weeks.

Everything hinges on the point guard play next year. We could be a big time contender in the ACC next year if the point guard play is up to par.

Roddy Peters is real good, but it's a lot to ask a freshman to shoulder the kind of load he will be asked to shoulder immediately. He'll grow into the role, but it could be a bumpy ride at the onset of the season. Of course, this wouldn't be that much of a concern if Pe'Shon Howard wasn't bad at basketball, but I wouldn't be surprised if they bring on another PG late in the process.

Also, with Len gone and rumors of Shaq Cleare not happy and possibly transferring, they could be real thin in the paint. Dodd will surprise and add a physical presence, but if both Len and Cleare leave, do you start Mitchell at the five and Smotrycz at the four? However, with Len gone and minutes available, you would think Cleare would get over it and with him at the five, Mitchell at the four, Dez at the three, Faust at the two and Peters at the one, that's a real starting five with Layman, Smotrycz, Allen, Howard and Dodd coming off the bench.

Shaq Cleare transferring? :wtf:

There's also rumors of Turgeon quitting since he didn't sign up to coach in the Big 10? :wtf:

:damn: College Park, step your game up nikkas, this is embarassing and pisses me off. Why the hell does this program always have to keep starting over every 2 damn years. SHID.

whats the deal with Sam Cassell Jr?

Mitchell actually fits best with the uptempo game that benefits this group, but you if Cleare is considering bouncing then that turns a strength into a major weakness.

I thought about this the day we announced the move.

Turgeon made it very clear he was siced about coaching in the ACC.

i thought a few days ago, a reporter told Shaq about the rumors of him being unhappy asked about him leaving and he laughed and said "no way"? I read that somewhere...... shyt, i know people that know him so I'll get them to tell me what's up..

I wouldn't mind having Len back next year though honestly. Think about how much he's improved from last year to this year, so imagine the improvements he would make from this year to next year. I can see an issue with playing time, especially with Dodd coming in, but i thought he was gunna redshirt anyway.

Wait, what? This is the first I'm hearing of this. :merchant:

But now that you mention it - FWIW, at least from what I've observed, Turge hasn't seemed particularly happy at all this season.

Cassell, I believe, is redshirting at Chipola and wouldn't be available until 2014. Besides, he's more of a combo than a pure point. By '14, you'd still have Peters, Allen, Melo Trimble and possibly Dion Wiley in the backcourt. That's when the big bucks start rolling in.

Peters/Trimble will be nasty.

:yeshrug: I hope that they are still interested in bringing him to Colly Park next year.

Marquette is trying to get him Sam Cassell Jr. | Paint Touches

Marquette has inquired on Sam Cassell Jr., a 6-foot-4 shooting guard who was ruled academically ineligible after committing to Maryland as a high school senior. He opted for junior college instead of attending Division I as a partial qualifier, and he will play one season at Chipola (he’s redshirting this year) before becoming eligible for the 2014-’15 season.

A long, athletic wing who can handle the ball, Cassell Jr. also touts impressive defensive ability and would help fill the void left by Blue. Cassell played with Todd Mayo at Notre Dame Prep, and was a top-150 recruit in the 2012 class.
(Cassell highlight reel)

Turgeon made it very clear he was siced about coaching in the ACC.

This was on Testudo Times before it got deleted:

Tim Brando was just on Sirius and dropped a bomb! He relayed that thru his "sources" Turgeon has communicated to Anderson that he is not at all happy with the forthcoming move to the Big 10 and that Turgeon has been communicating to fellow coaches that he did not sign up to coach in the Big 10 (that he only wants to be in the Big 12 or the ACC. Brando also said that Turgeon is growing concerned about recruiting local kids and continuing to try and lock down the DMV (stay at home movement) because they don't want to play in the Big 10. Brando stated Turgeon is also very concerned about how the move has already affected recruiting and he has been trying to use Victor Oladipo as a selling point to local recruits, but there not buying it and he knows its going to have a dramatic impact on recruiting in the future. Brando even went so far as to say that Turgeon has told Anderson he is going to look at "his options" when the season ends and that besides potentially looking at other opportunities, he might go to UNC and work under Roy Williams.

Needless to say, I am not happy typing this and it literally floored me! I don't think anyone has heard a peep that Turge was anything but happy in College Park and I am assuming the move to the Big 10 was discussed at length with him before it happened. It all just seems to have come out of nowhere (but these things typically do).

Does Brando have an axe to grind with UMD? Any dots to connect there? Again, I could not have been more floored to hear this.

:snoop: I got excited early in the season when they were winning 13 straight over nobodies and almost beating Kentucky in the 1st game :ohlawd:

I'm not buying the recruiting angle of that story just yet.

For 2013, he's got Roddy Peters (Suitland) coming in.

For 2014, he's already got Melo Trimble (O'Connell) coming in. They're in the final three for Dwayne Morgan (St. Frances), top three (MD, UVa and Georgetown) for Dion Wiley. Considered the leader for Obi Enechionyia (St. James) and are still battling Indiana, Villanova and Georgetown for Phil Booth (Mount St. Joe's).

Not saying they're gonna get all of these kids, but if you've got arguably the two best guards from the area coming in consecutive classes, then you're doing just fine locally.

If Kenny Johnson can convince local kids, namely Bryant Crawford and Marcus Derrickson, to come to Indiana - because that's why Crean hired him after all - then Turgeon/Bino/Hill should be able to keep local kids at MD.
