Crazy stuff. I was over my parents house. To give you background. My parents are old retirees. My pops does the same routine ever since I can remember. After we got out of school when I was little (which was about 3:00) he be with the fam. But after the 5PM news goes off he goes up stairs and watch TV. Now, he might come down stair to get something to eat but that's about it. He got a couch up there and pretty much is Al Bundy. No beer but chips and TV.
My moms is into growing flowers. She has this Black pole where you stick the plants on. The pole fell down. So she asked my pops while he was watching CNBC to come downstairs and plant the pole. Now, the way she asked him she sounded kinda shaky, less confident then usual. So I knew something was up. Like she knew she shouldn't be doing it but did it anyway.
Pops "What? Don't be disturbing me while I'm watching TV. I'm trying to watch this program! Wait, till tommorrow!"
Moms" Never mind. Can't ask you nothing. All you wanna do is watch TV. You never wanna help me. You say I work too much in the house but when I ask for help. You don't wanna help me."
He came downstairs. The look on my pops face pure anger.
Pops "After today, don't ask me do nothing if it's after 4PM"
Moms "You don't do nothing in this house anyway."
Again, pure anger and silence. I thought he was ready to hit her (and no I don't come from physically abusive home. Verbal abuse from my moms? That's a whole nother thread). But he did nothing. He then siad "Son, you do it." And went back upstairs to watch CNBC. And so I did it. Took less then a minute to plant the pole and push it in the ground.
Anybody pops like mine? Where you can't disturb then after a certain once they're in their man cave. I personally, never bother him during that time because I know how angry he gets. But I guess my moms was using that to spend time with him or something. I don't know. She up here playing Pac Man on the Ipad now.
