I wouldn't have even said all that.

Just tell them I'm busy with work and keep it moving. They do this shyt so they can find something to hold over you later, or to run and tell their boss something negative about you.

Now even though you think what you said is harmless, they can easily twist what you said to make you look bad to your boss. Just smile and say you gotta check email and will talk later. Knowing you never go out your way to even try and pick back up the conversation.
